Playing very early on in the events of the album with no previewed context, is the straight lead in to the story. This is the first track that states true album lore.
A planet within our galaxy yet in a different solar system capable of sustaining humanoid life is hit directly by the supernova of their sun. The explosion burns enough energy to destroy over 99% of life on the planet, and those who survive seek refuge in the last standing city of their world.
The corrupt leaders in power of this city before the eruption stand their ground, provoking citizens and making life unbearable for them.
As shown throughout the song by the use of certain melodies and chord progressions, this was written as my accompaniment for the new James Bond film, 'No Time to Die'.
The song itself ends with two solos: electric piano and electric guitar, also making it the first track on the album to incorporate a solo.
The instruments used turn it into a rather orchestral subgenre of synthpop.
lyrics
The world's been shattered to pieces
Glass under the feet of everyone
I have a license to kill you
And another to wield a gun
This city's crumbled under the weight of 10 solar masses
The people of this planet scorched on tar and turned to ashes
And yet here I could still be speaking to my own reflection (I'll make you bend and break)
20 billion people here to watch my re-election (Quick and painless before you wake)
I still can't tell the difference between right and wrong
Heroes and villains, good and bad, I play along
He wants revenge on me
You gave up everything for it to crumble to the sea
Welcome to my kingdom of grace
We kill people to make it a better place
I can only ask for you to forgive me
We could conquer things, just you wait and see
This city's crumbled under the weight of 10 solar masses
The people of this planet scorched on tar and turned to ashes
No time to die, your lies and corruption are gonna fall through (I'll survive long after I'm gone)
When your secrets find their way out it'll be the death of you (Become the thing I've wanted for so long)
I still can't tell the difference between right and wrong
Heroes and villains, good and bad, I play along
He wants revenge on me
You gave up everything for it to crumble to the sea
