The first true instrumental track of the album (discounting Infinity), Midsummer Rideout is meant to be written as an interlude- and is the beginning of the second chapter of the album. It is written in a somewhat more uplifting way than the rest of the tracks, and signifies the first turn-around from the atrocities that the album bring on up to this point.
This was an interesting and very fun one to write, in a 7/4 time signature, which constantly changes (4/4 at one point and 3/4 in another).
