As the track that I wanted to have queued as the encompassment of the album, Neon Noire holds it's place as one of the most original and crazy jazz-dreampop fusions I've written, from the majority of the chords being rather unusual to the 'strange' conception of the lyrics.
Continuing on from Revival of a Supernova, Neon Noire tells the story of one of the rescuers from the initial trip who has a worse fate than the rest of them. He is sucked into the black hole created by the huge amount of energy from the supernova. His mind is flayed and burns up within a second, but sees the universe like a psychedelic trip. He feels as though he's been floating in the black hole writhing in pain for decades as he begins to go insane, hearing voices (auditory hallucinations).
Like many of the other tracks on this album, Neon Noire is significant of a mental health disorder. The likes of which on this track centres itself around schizophrenia.
lyrics
I’m falling, I’m disappearing
Am I out of place or are they interfering?
Do I really want to know at all?
In this reality you cannot scream
Is this a nightmare or is this a dream?
Is this my uprise or is this my downfall?
Is it my time yet, do I understand?
Is it my time yet, are my thoughts made of sand?
Can I return this? My body is burning
Can I return this, is this something I’m earning?
I don’t wanna be shaped by your sick rules
I’m lost in a trance of a trillion joules
Set us free from who we are
Set me free from neon noire
Am I wide awake or on the floor?
Has it been 10 seconds or a year more?
Can I feel any of this at all?
I'm waiting for the sirens call
Is my head afloat, am I on my knees?
I’m trying to breathe, is it just to bleed?
Is this my uprise or is this my downfall?
Welcome to this world so bizarre
The practise and teachings of neon noire!
Welcome to the final stage
To strengthen your courage to break out your chains!
Is it my time yet, do I understand?
Is it my time yet, are my thoughts made of sand?
Can I return this? My body is burning
Can I return this, is this something I’m earning?
I don’t wanna be shaped by your sick rules
I’m lost in a trance of a trillion joules
Set us free from who we are
Hail your new home in neon noire
You’ve worked so hard, you’ve come so far
But you can wash away all your fear
You’ll never know how long you’ll be here
Is it my time yet, do I understand?
Is it my time yet, are my thoughts made of sand?
Can I return this? My body is burning
Can I return this, is this something I’m earning?
I don’t wanna be shaped by your sick rules
I’m lost in a trance of a trillion joules
Set us free from who we are
Set me free from neon noire
Welcome to this world so bizarre
Hail your new home in neon noire! (In neon noire!)
I don’t wanna be shaped by your sick rules! (Is it mine, and can I understand?)
I’m lost in a trance of a trillion joules! (Is it mine, and are my thoughts of sand?)
Set us free from who we are! (Can we reap, how have we come so far?)
Set me free from neon noire!
